How these calculators work

Every tool on this page runs the same way: measure the job in feet and inches, and the calculator converts to the unit your supplier actually sells in. Gravel and stone come back in tons and cubic yards. Concrete comes back in yards and bag counts. Sod comes back in rolls and pallets. Each result includes a waste allowance you control, because ordering the exact geometric amount is how jobs come up short.

A few of them go further than a straight conversion. The driveway cost calculator prices all four surfaces side by side. The sonotube calculator subtracts the post from the hole. The fill dirt calculator adds the compaction allowance most people learn about the hard way. And anything you calculate can be saved to a project list that totals material across tools, shared as a link, or printed as a ticket for the supply yard counter.

The math runs on published constants: bag yields from the manufacturers, concrete weight from ACI guidance, aggregate densities from FHWA references, stair limits from the IRC. The about page lists every source. If a number ever disagrees with your supplier's scale ticket, tell us and we'll check it against the reference.
